Boldly Forward, Never Alone: Fellowship Pacific & Sunnybrae
On August 4-9, Sunnybrae Bible Camp in the Shuswap hosted the third annual Ministry Workers Family Camp.
This camp is made possible through a partnership between Fellowship Pacific and Sunnybrae and was attended by ministry families from throughout our region. Children, youth, and adults attended chapel together, played games, rode horses and ponies, competed in a variety of individual and team activities, and went away making new friends and feeling refreshed and renewed.
Boldly Forward, Never Alone: Camp Qwanoes with Central Baptist Church
On Sunday, June 23, during our Staff Training week, our entire staff team went to Central Baptist Church in Victoria, BC to be commissioned for our summer of ministry. We brought along banners that had the names on them of every camper coming to Qwanoes this summer. We were welcomed by the senior pastor, and near the beginning of the service all 200 of us went up on the stage.
Boldly Forward, Never Alone With Maaqtusiis Community Church
This past month, at least four Fellowship Pacific churches partnered with others to send Maaqtusiis and two other Band’s youth to an Aboriginal Youth Conference.
Maaqtusiis Community Church’s full-time missionaries to First Nations, Jacob and Rachel Hwang, express their deepest gratitude to those who prayed for their Youth to attend the AYC (Aboriginal Youth Conference), and they ask that you continue to pray for them.
Stories from Immerse: Kaylie Arsenault
Kaylie Arsenault joined the Immerse program in September 2020 and it quickly became apparent that she had an aptitude for scholarly work coupled with an intense desire to share the love of Jesus. Dr. Archie Spencer, Kaylie’s academic mentor, was so impressed with her work he encouraged her to go on to do a PhD!
Kaylie worked on her Immerse studies and applied herself in the practical implementation of what she was learning while employed at Village Church in a capacity of roles, including the start-up of a prison ministry at the Surrey Correctional facility and discipleship ministry at the Village Church Surrey campus. In all aspects of her role at Village Church, Kaylie’s leadership competencies and her love for sharing Jesus continued to grow.
Boldly Forward, Never Alone with SouthRidge Church & Valley Church
SouthRidge Fellowship was born out of a desire to introduce more people to Jesus Christ. Leaders of Cloverdale Baptist in Surrey believed that a daughter church in Langley would be the best way to accomplish this. In the fall of 1994, they invited everyone who was interested to join a church planting team. As we've grown over the years our passion to see people get to know Jesus Christ has grown and we've become a vibrant community of friends—a family of sorts—seeking and serving God together in the community of Langley.
Finding Strength and Healing Through W.I.N.G.S.
"What's wrong with me?" Emma (not her real name) asked, her voice trembling with uncertainty. "I frequently forget what I am doing and where I am going. I've missed my bus stop several times and arrived late at work. I am not acting normal," she concluded, her eyes welling up with tears as she bravely narrated her harrowing experiences from the past week. Under the weight of stress, her mind often went blank, leaving her feeling painfully slow and overwhelmed, exacerbating the frustration of her coworkers. Emma’s self-confidence was at an all-time low; she was exhausted from restless nights and frequent panic attacks. Before me, with her head bowed low, sat a terrified woman grappling with the traumatic aftermath of domestic abuse.
Next-Gen Leadership: No Minimum Age Requirement!
When does a “next-gen” leader start leading?
The textbook definition of leadership tells us that leadership, in its simplest form, is influence. If this is true, then AJ Adlawan—at 8 years of age—is a leader!
AJ is a great kid who loves to read and play soccer. When he lists his favorite books, it's everything from Captain Underpants to “Little Visits with God!”
Until a recent move to Red Deer, Alberta, AJ and his family attended Immanuel Fellowship in Abbotsford. It was here where AJ connected with the Kids Club Program. Under the leadership of Mikey Pierson, director of Immanuel Kids, AJ was encouraged to invite his school friends to join him at Immanuel Kids Club…
Boldly Forward in Quesnel, BC
“Leave your nets and follow me!” Jesus said to a group of young men, and they did exactly that! Now, we expect to read about a bold move like that in the Scriptures, but we don’t always expect to see it in the context of British Columbia in 2023.
We think bold stories about following Jesus only happen in other places and times.
For sure this is too incredulous to happen in a small British Columbia town and certainly too out of the box for a Fellowship Baptist Church, right? Well, let us introduce you to Kyle, a young man in Quesnel, BC, who boldly said “yes!” to Jesus.

Building Belonging Through Intentional Mentoring
“Building into the next generation of leaders.”
In a vision statement this sounds great, but how does this translate into reality in the context of a church community?
At the height of the COVID-19 lockdown, the launch of Leverage Pods – a mentoring program designed to facilitate relationships – seemed like a risky move, and we were surprised when over 100 women signed up for the 14-month mentoring journey with a focus on leadership development.
Courtenay Fellowship was one of the churches that joined this province-wide movement, signing up twelve women, and when they came home from the retreat held in Parksville at the conclusion of that initial mentorship journey, they decided this needed to continue within their church and it needed to be for everyone.
