Boldly Forward in Quesnel, BC
“Leave your nets and follow me!” Jesus said to a group of young men, and they did exactly that! Now, we expect to read about a bold move like that in the Scriptures, but we don’t always expect to see it in the context of British Columbia in 2023.
We think bold stories about following Jesus only happen in other places and times.
For sure this is too incredulous to happen in a small British Columbia town and certainly too out of the box for a Fellowship Baptist Church, right? Well, let us introduce you to Kyle, a young man in Quesnel, BC, who boldly said “yes!” to Jesus.
A few months ago, Kyle came to an intersection in his life where he heard the call of Jesus so strongly that he quit his job in order to pursue his new found salvation freedom! Kyle’s pastor, John Tullett, describes the incredible change he’s seen in Kyle and how their conversations now are filled with spontaneous interruptions focused on prayer and questions focused on Kyle’s desire to know more about Christ.
Kyle’s salvation story is one of ongoing life transformation that is leaving his pastor slack-jawed. Hallelujah!
On Easter Sunday this past April, it was a day of Holy Spirit driven chaos at Northstar Church as people kept coming forward to be baptized. In the end, seventeen people were baptized—so many that the church ran out of towels and tee-shirts! Newly baptized believers were walking around the church lobby leaving puddles and nobody cared. God had made His presence known in Quesnel that morning as Kyle and other new believers publicly declared their intention to follow Jesus whole-heartedly.
This kind of awakening in our churches across our region is what we continue to pray for. God is on the move and we are joining Him—moving Boldly Forward and knowing we are Never Alone!
