Ministering to Migrant Workers in BC
Migrant Workers Ministry Update: A Season of Impact and Encouragement
Ongoing Ministry and New Opportunities
The Migrant Workers Ministry team continues to serve migrant farm workers daily in a variety of practical and relational ways, always with the goal of building trust and creating space to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Pastor Carlos Carrión also leads a weekly Bible study with a group of workers in Cloverdale, providing consistent spiritual support and discipleship.
In July, the ministry reached out to two new groups of workers in Langley. One of these opportunities came through a worker Pastor Carlos had connected with in the past, who has now returned to Canada and is working at a new farm. These types of reconnections happen often and offer a valuable way to extend the ministry’s reach to new workers and farms across the region.
Father’s Day Events Across the Lower Mainland
Throughout the month of June, the Migrant Workers Ministry held a series of outreach events to celebrate Father’s Day, serving meals and sharing the gospel with workers at four different farms. In total, 146 migrant workers were served. After each meal, Pastor Carlos shared a message from 1 John 3:1,16; 1 John 4:9-10; and Romans 5:8 - reminding listeners of the sacrificial love of God the Father. This message resonated deeply, as many workers leave their families behind to work in Canada and provide a better life for their children.
Each attendee received a reusable lunch bag printed with John 6:35:
“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
Sharing the Story Together
Fellowship Pacific’s media specialist, Janel Bucknor, joined several of the Father’s Day events to capture video footage of the celebrations, and compiled a video to share the story more broadly. This project will serve as a powerful tool for raising awareness about the Migrant Workers Ministry and the lives being impacted by the gospel.
A Community Effort
The Migrant Workers Ministry is incredibly thankful for the many volunteers who prepared and served meals, set up and cleaned up, and engaged in heartfelt conversations with the workers. These interactions often turned emotional, as workers shared stories of sacrifice and longing for their families. Volunteers offered encouragement and expressed genuine appreciation for the hard work and resilience of these men and women.
Thanks be to God for the success of these events and for the ongoing work being done through this ministry. We remain grateful for the faithful support of volunteers, partner churches, and the broader Fellowship Pacific community. May the Lord continue to draw many migrant workers and their families into a relationship with Jesus Christ.
