Loving Our Neighbours: The Scott Sauls Presentation
On June 28, 2025, people from across Fellowship Pacific - and beyond - gathered for a powerful and timely presentation by widely regarded speaker and author Scott Sauls. He speaks to how we engage our community with the love of Jesus at all levels of our culture. With a passion to equip leaders to think well, live with integrity, and make meaningful contributions in their everyday lives, Scott shared profound thoughts on how we love well in the midst of difference and disagreement. Bringing gospel-centred clarity and a shepherd’s heart, he addressed one of the most sensitive and often controversial topics facing the Church today: how we can navigate conversations around sexuality, particularly with LGBTQ+ individuals, in a way that maintains our obedience to Jesus and scripture, but also fully reflects Christ's love.
A Call to Kindness
Many attendees left deeply moved, encouraged, and challenged. One participant, shared:
“I felt challenged to show kindness to those around me - not only those in the LGBTQ community but everyone. Kindness is an extension of the love Jesus modelled. As Scott said, it’s showing people that we would like to be their friend. It was a good reminder that we don’t need to expect people to change their behaviour. We need to encourage a relationship with God through Jesus and trust that the Holy Spirit will begin the sanctification process.”
Another attendee reflected on how Scott approached the topic with both conviction and compassion:
“God has given [Scott] the ability to take a biblical stand that is dripping with God’s love for the person as a whole. He said that our mandate is to bring the person to salvation and relationship with Jesus Christ, to accept them as they are, and then leave the convicting to God. A simple yet powerful statement.”
Personal and Ministry Impact
For some, the message was personally transformative:
“I found it inspiring because it encourages us to approach this topic with love and understanding, not with a mandate to "fix a problem" or a concern about how one individual might affect the masses. It challenged me to love without expectation, to trust God to do the work, but to also stand my ground biblically.”
Others are already thinking about how to apply these insights within their churches and leadership roles:
“As someone on my church board, if this topic arises, I want to encourage a biblical stance with a welcoming spirit.”
This gathering with Scott Sauls served as a powerful reminder of how vital it is to approach difficult conversations with both grace and truth while extending the radical love of Jesus to everyone we meet.
