Sharing the Love of Christ with Migrant Workers in BC
We have the privilege of partnering with some incredible ministries across BC & Yukon that are faithfully sharing the love of Jesus in their communities. This month, we’re excited to share an update from Pastor Carlos Carrion of Migrant Workers Ministry.
For many migrant workers across British Columbia, far from home and family, simple acts of hospitality can open the door to hope, community, and the love of Jesus. Through Planting the Seed (Sembrando la Semilla), Pastor Carlos Carrion continues to faithfully serve migrant workers throughout the Fraser Valley and beyond.
As a ministry partner of Fellowship Pacific, Migrant Workers Ministry exists to care for migrant workers spiritually, relationally, and practically: building friendships, meeting needs, and sharing the gospel.
“After many years of ministry, God is still opening doors for us to reach new workers, and men are still hearing and responding to that message. All praise and glory to God.” Carlos shares.
Celebrating Volunteers and Supporters
The year began with a volunteer appreciation dinner hosted at Ladner Baptist Church. Carlos and his wife Veronica prepared an authentic Mexican meal for approximately 25 volunteers and supporters as a way of thanking those who continue to serve and support the ministry.
Carlos expressed deep gratitude to Fellowship Pacific, local churches, volunteers, and prayer partners who make the ministry possible.
“You are an important part of everything we do,” he writes, “part of the body of Christ reaching out to migrant workers with the love of Jesus Christ.”
Easter Dinner Brings New Connections
This year’s Easter Dinner was especially encouraging, with more than 100 migrant workers attending — including 35 first-time guests. Workers from Mexico, Guatemala, and, for the first time, Honduras gathered together for a shared meal and community.
The event was supported by 20 volunteers who helped prepare food, serve meals, provide transportation, and clean up afterward.
Most importantly, seven workers came forward to receive Christ into their hearts.
Continuing to Serve
In addition to special events, Carlos continues to visit and support workers throughout the year, building relationships and caring for practical needs on a daily basis.
Looking ahead, the ministry is preparing for its annual Father’s Month project in June, bringing meals directly to workers at local farms. Along with food and fellowship, the team shares encouragement and a message from the Bible with workers where they live and work.
Supporters can help by contributing financially or donating small gifts, chocolates, candies, cookies, or gift cards for the outreach events.
