Loving Lytton
Earlier this year, we sent out a request for our churches to consider joining us in supporting families who were displaced by the tragic fire in Lytton, BC and within two weeks we had raised over $25,000!
But you all didn't stop there and we are now thrilled to report that we have been able to contribute over $55,000 towards the work being done in Lytton!
Take a moment to read this update on how these funds have been able to love and support families in a very difficult time.
Dear sister churches in Fellowship Pacific,
I sincerely appreciate your prayers and financial support on behalf of Faith Fellowship Baptist Church and our ministry partner, Love First Nations Ministry. The Lytton team has been trying to make a positive impact in Christ's name on the lives of Lytton fire evacuees since the catastrophic fire which engulfed Lytton downtown on June 30.
The team has been hosting multiple community events for the Lytton evacuees to offer hundreds of gift cards respectfully and naturally. Occasionally, we have been dropping off some groceries such as milk and meat at their request. Hoping to deepen a friendship in tandem with spiritual care in Christ, our leaders frequently contact school teachers, social workers, and business owners in Lytton. Extra attention since the fire has provided more natural and friendly opportunities to share our faith with them and even ask them how to pray for their families. Thanks to God's generosity through you, we are planning to offer packages of school supplies for about one hundred children in Stein Valley School in September. Also, we are planning to host a community meal in the Fall and Christmas hampers in December.
Most of the evacuees are First Nations people. However, God has also given us multiple opportunities to minister to other ethnic families, including three Korean families and one Filipino lady. Two of the Korean families have come closer to God through the team's ministry, and two of the families currently attend Sunday worship services in the Metro-Vancouver area.
For the last few months, our team visited shelters, hotels, and campgrounds in Boston Bar, Lytton, Merrit, Kamloops, and Port Coquitlam. As a leader of the team, I have been privileged to share the resources that you have sacrificially and cheerfully given during this current time of uncertainty of COVID-19. I gratefully tell you this: All the resources you shared have made a heart-changing impact on the lives of many people. May the Lord continue to bless you and your ministry abundantly according to His riches in Christ!
Gratefully,
Peter C. Park
