Immerse Graduation & Cornerstone

The Launch

If I needed to find one word to describe the past six weeks it would need to be something like the word “grateful.” Yes I know, that sounds like a bit of a cliché since we just celebrated Thanksgiving but truly, “grateful” is the only thing that I can come up with at the moment. I want you to know that in this context, it reaches beyond our cultural calendar.

We gathered at Burnett Fellowship to celebrate our second Immerse graduation. The event on September 29th signified the simultaneous loss of seven Immerse students and the gain of seven pastors who have already launched into full time ministry in our Fellowship churches!  Grateful almost sounds meager when I think about the impact these seven graduates will have on the future of the churches across our region.

As we continue to leverage our collective strength to make a God-honouring impact across BC and Yukon, this Immerse grad class is more than just seven pastors ready to preach the gospel. This group of graduates represents countless points of gospel impact over a lifetime.

It is our aim to prepare the next generation of leaders to do more, go farther and reach more people for Christ that we ever have before. Are you beginning to agree with me that “grateful” just doesn't seem like enough of a word to describe what is happening in our Fellowship?

The Intake

We also welcomed a fresh slate of students into the program in September. Woven into the narrative of these student’s lives is a clear sense of God’s calling. These are bright, ambitious, focused young leaders with the potential to lead with courage and conviction. They have said “Yes” to God’s call and I am humbled and honoured to help them on their Immerse journey.

This week in one of my online meetings with a cohort of students, I asked the question:  Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

One of our new students quickly said, I want to do your job, Krista. To which I replied, “That's the right answer”!

We will pass the torch to these students and they will run faster and farther than us. That is the long term Immerse plan!

We have much to celebrate as we continue to partner with our churches and agencies to intentionally invest in our next generation of leaders.

The right word? You pick one!

Grateful, Humbled, Overwhelmed, Awestruck, Giddy, Ecstatic, Joyful, Elated
