Anytime! Anywhere! Anyone!

We exist to see anyone plant and equip a disciple making fellowship at anytime, anywhere.

vision:

To establish an accessible platform to evangelical Christian fellowship that follows Jesus by reaching out to Korean immigrants living in rural and remote areas in BC, Canada where it is difficult to plant a Korean church.

Worship On Air Values:

  • We aim for a complementary hybrid community through online and offline organic convergence.

  • We are not afraid to try innovative methods and build a community that meets the spiritual and physical needs of the region we serve within the scope of not damaging the church.

  • We recognize that the pastor’s role and influence in the hybrid church model may differ from the traditional church pastors. We place great importance on developing the capabilities of remote site small group leaders.

Joshua & Sujin Kim, Andy, Alysha

Joshua Lee was born and raised in a Christian home in South Korea. In 2002 he moved to Vancouver with his wife. Together they have a son (18) and a daughter (15), both born in Canada.

He has electrical engineering and broadcasting diplomas and served the Korean Military as a videographer for two years. Joshua finished his BA in Theology at Ahan-Yang University in South Korea and his MA in cross-cultural ministry at Trinity Western University, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry, writing about the Hybrid Church Planting Methodology through Paul’s mission approaches in early church context.

Joshua served local Korean immigrant churches for seven years as a children's and youth pastor. He served a multicultural church for four years as a mission pastor and interim pastor. He also worked at a Christian school as an IT Technician for eight years and now works for Village Church as a video coordinator.

He is passionate about outreach mission projects. He has many outreach trip experiences to Tanzania, Sudan, Kenya, Philippines, Japan, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Mexico, and Canada. For the last nine years, he has served Indigenous communities in the Lillooet, BC area.

He loves to equip people to use technology efficiently in their daily life. Since 2016, he has planted an online hybrid fellowship for Korean families who live in small cities struggling with their spiritual life (Revelstoke, Hope, Lytton, and Merrit).

What challenges have you faced in church planting?

Embarking on the journey of hybrid church planting has presented a formidable challenge, characterized by uncharted territories and an absence of established precedents. This pioneering endeavor necessitates a willingness to navigate uncertainties, acknowledging the potential for setbacks along the way. Despite the notable integration of technology into church ministry during the pandemic, there persists a prevailing misconception regarding the legitimacy of hybrid church planting as a fully recognized form of ministry. Regrettably, this misunderstanding has, at times, cast a shadow over the enthusiasm of my church planting team. Negotiating this unfamiliar terrain requires resilience, with an emphasis on dispelling doubts and demonstrating the transformative potential of the hybrid approach, even in the face of initial skepticism.

What gives you hope and keeps you going?

The need for the gospel. The need for the gospel is an important central driving force that continues the ministry of Worship On Air. The first reason we started a church community in Revelstoke was not to establish a new church, try a new method, or for any other reason. Our initial motivation for starting this ministry was simply to effectively deliver the gospel to places where it was needed. This was not a strategic approach or a very advanced technological innovation, but simply a desire to build a community of disciples who follow Jesus through the most usable and familiar tools available to those in need of the gospel.

The reason we are making these new attempts despite various difficulties and challenges is simple. We are simply trying to overcome various limitations and effectively deliver the gospel to places where it is needed. The need for the gospel is the core driving force that drives us to minister at the very center of Worship On Air.
