Saying Thank You to Kent Anderson

The interesting thing about human behaviour in an organization is that we all just move along in one direction without really taking a look from the Google Earth perspective UNTIL somebody decides to move into another lane. Then collectively we all say, “wait a minute, what’s happening, where are you going? We thought we would just keep moving together forever!”

But here we are, saying goodbye to Kent Anderson after 26 years of “fellowshipping” in the same lane, and this journey deserves to be noted and celebrated.

Kent Anderson has made significant contributions to Fellowship Pacific as a professor and then president of Northwest Baptist Seminary, as a pastor, and most notably, as a lifetime member of our fellowship family.

Our mission statement encapsulates his journey with us: we are leveraging our collective strength to make a God-honouring impact in our region.

This statement is only true when it is lived out in the details of how we move forward together. Kent Anderson’s contribution to this mission statement rings true in so many ways as he chose to fully embrace and champion Immerse and helped to build recognition for competency based education through the work that he continues to do with the Association of Theological Schools (ATS). He kept his perspective fresh by personally mentoring students, teaching seminar courses, and advocating for and encouraging the involvement of our churches as a core value of this innovative educational system.

We are so grateful for the clear vision that Dr. Anderson championed. He took risks that moved the dream of Immerse into a reality that has changed the way we educate our pastors and leaders.

He is taking his passion, vision, enthusiasm and drive to Providence University College & Theological Seminary and we are certain they will benefit from his leadership just as we have been blessed by him.

Now about our Fellowship family: we are so awesome, he just can’t bear to leave us. We are not kidding! Although he was not born in a Fellowship church lobby, he was sitting in a pew very soon after he entered this world. The Fellowship is in his DNA! He and Karen will continue to be a part of Dunbar Heights Baptist Church and we will continue to embrace them as part of our Fellowship family.

Thank you Kent for moving with us in the direction of living out our shared gospel mandate in our region. We anticipate an amazing future for you as you embark on the next chapter of your journey.
